Attorney Profile
Barbara E. Erlandson has been
practicing exclusively in the area of Immigration and Naturalization Law
since 1999. She is fluent in Spanish.
Barbara represents individuals with immigration cases at the U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Service, the Immigration Court, U.S.
Consulates throughout the world, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and
the Administrative Appeals Office. She assists individuals with a
variety of nonimmigrant and immigrant visas including fiance(e) and
visitor visas, applications for permanent residence (green card) through
marriage and other family members, and applications for U.S.
Citizenship. She has processed applications for temporary status and
work authorization through the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and
Deferred Enforced Departure programs and deferred action status and work
authorization for victims of serious crimes (U Interim relief).
She also helps victims of domestic abuse obtain permanent residence
through the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and individuals from
Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala obtain permanent residence status
through the Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Acts (NACARA).
Barbara
received her undergraduate Bachelor of Arts degrees in Management and
Spanish from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph, MN. During her
junior year of college she studied in Madrid, Spain. She graduated with
honors from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul,
Minnesota. During law school, Barbara clerked as an intern at the
Immigration Court in Bloomington, MN. She also worked as a law clerk at
Centro Legal in St. Paul, MN and a law firm in Minneapolis, MN.
Prior to attending law school, Barbara worked at the Peace Corps
headquarters office in Washington, D.C. from 1991-1996 and she served as
a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica from 1988-1990.
